Status yellow weather alert comes into effect in Waterford tonight

A status yellow snow and ice warning will come into effect in Waterford tonight.

The alert has been issued by Met Éireann and covers the entire island from 10pm until 12 noon tomorrow.

They're warning that blustery showers of hail, sleet and snow with icy stretches on untreated surfaces will lead to hazardous driving conditions tonight and tomorrow morning.

Some thunder and lightning expected too.
