SIPTU is to begin balloting its members at Bausch and Lomb in Waterford City on a new pay deal.
Voting will continue throughout the week until Saturday when counting is expected to follow thereafter.
They're voting on whether or not to accept the terms of the agreement which includes pay increases of almost 10 per cent and the restoration of bonuses.
Union members recently staged work stoppages at the contact lens maker after talks broke down at the Workplace Relations Commission (WRC).
