SIPTU and Bausch and Lomb, Waterford, have agreed to re-engage in talks at the Workplace Relations Commission.

Two days of industrial action have already taken place by union workers at the Waterford plant in an ongoing dispute over pay.

A two-hour work stoppage and picket took place there on Saturday, while two more two-hour stoppages took place on Tuesday.

Last week, talks at the WRC came to a close without a solution.

Bausch and Lomb management maintain an offer of a pay increase by them is fair and should be considered in the current climate.

However, SIPTU say their workers, as with most people, are feeling the effects of the current cost of living crisis and the pay deal offered is not good enough.

Both sides had expressed openness to returning to meaningful talks.

WLR News now understands that they will return to the Workplace Relations Commission this Friday.
