Severe frost and ice across Waterford impact bus services

Severe frost and ice conditions are impacting roads across the county this morning.

Road gritting is in place by Waterford City and County Council, however housing estates and minor roads are not in the gritting schedule.

TFI Local Link buses have been impacted in some areas, with some services cancelled entirely due to impassable roads.

The 667 route from Dungarvan to Waterford has been cancelled, as has the 367 from Tramore to Dungarvan.

This comes as the Local Link bus from Dungarvan to Waterford skidded into a ditch en-route to Dunhill, no injuries were reported as a result.

Those travelling on the school bus from Kilmacthomas were caught up in the Anne Valley region of Waterford this morning.

In the west of the county, the 361 through Ring is operating this morning, but the 357 through Clashmore has been cancelled due to current road conditions.

Local Labour Cllr. John Pratt issued a statement regarding the presence of black ice and frost in the west of the county.

He said: "I have requested that near schools, gritting should be carried out. Unfortunately my reply was that only schools on P1 and P2 routes will be done."
