Search underway for relatives of woman found dead at County Waterford home

Attempts are underway to identify the next of kin of an elderly woman found dead at her home at the foothills of the Comeragh Mountains two weeks ago.

The body of the woman, named locally as as Zilia Peterkin, was discovered at her home at Furraleigh, Mahon Bridge where she lived alone.

It's unclear exactly when Ms Peterkin died but it's understood the discovery was made on January 22nd.

WLR News understands there isn't any suspicion of foul play.

Ms Peterkin is not originally from the area and has no known relatives in the area.

Locals in Mahon Bridge who spoke to WLR News described her as a very private individual.

They are saddened by her death and have offered to assist with any official inquiries in relation to the formal identification process.

A Garda spokesperson told WLR News that Gardaí are following definite lines of inquiry in relation to tracing next of kin and the formal identification process.
