The Department of Housing has given the green light for the construction of 12 new social houses in An Sean Phobal.
The news was confirmed by Cllr. Seamus O'Donnell at yesterday's meeting of the Dungarvan and Lismore District of Waterford Council.
Cllr. O'Donnell has been working to secure the homes since 2014 and is delighted that they will finally be delivered.
"I'm pleased with the news that 12 new social houses will be built in An Sean Phobal", said Cllr. O'Donnell. "I must take the opportunity to thank Ivan Grimes and Paul Johnston for putting up with me since 2014. I've been working since 2014 to try and get these houses in."
Director of Housing with Waterford Council, Ivan Grimes acknowledged Cllr. O'Donnell's efforts, and confirmed the green light has been given by the Department of Housing to commence with the project.
"The Department has given their approval for the development of 12 new social houses in An Sean Phobal. It's our intention to commence the Part 8 Process before the end of the year. I'm delighted we're now in a position where we're able to commence the planning process."
