Residents angered by delay to Leamybrien traffic calming measures

Residents in a busy County Waterford village have expressed shock that a proposed traffic calming scheme has been further delayed.

A scheme, which includes a long awaited pedestrian crossing, was due to commence in Leamybrien later this year.

However, local resident Kevin Lonergan says the plan continues to be hit by delays - and the latest projected timeline for commencement is 2025.

"We've been hearing about traffic calming for Leamybrien since 2013/2014. We're now into the middle of 2024 and the fact there has been no development is very concerning," he said.

"Having the N25 going through your village is huge and the fact there is no pedestrian crossing in a village like Leamybrien is unheard of in this day and age."

Kevin says there have been a lot of "near misses" and describes the current situation as "very dangerous".

A member of the local Tidy Towns group, Kevin adds that the lack of action is also stifling other developments in the area from taking place.
