People are being invited to have their say on Waterford's new City of Lights scheme.

19 landmarks across the city are set to be lit up under the initiative.

In 2021 funding of over €530,000 was granted to Waterford City and County Council to support sustainable tourism development through a number of projects, including the City of Lights.

The lights trail will integrate the City Centre, Viking Triangle, the Cultural Quarter and the retail spine including the Apple Market.

The council plans to introduce the lighting by various means such as flood lighting, wall-mounted and ground-mounted LED projectors.

The lighting will be programmable allowing the colour/ambiance to be changed throughout the year to cater for different events and festivities.

In December, the Tempus Fugit clock was unveiled at the Irish Museum of Time on Greyfriar's Street, which will become a part of the new trail, under Fáilte Ireland's Urban Animation Project.

Most of the buildings which will be lit up are protected structures and the council is inviting you to have your say on the particulars of the plans.
