The Princess visited the Lafcadio Hearn Gardens in the town as part of her visit marking the 60th anniversary of Irish-Japanese relations.
Built only three years ago, the Tramore Gardens commemorate the life of Patrick Lafcadio Hearn, who following his marriage to a Japanese woman began his work chronicling the rich folklore tradition of his adopted country.
The gardens in Tramore, which attract thousands of visitors from all over the world, were inspired by a visit by Hearn's great grandson, Professor Bon Koi-zumi, in 2012.
The Princess was greatly impressed by the gardens.

She said the gardens are a symbol of relations between Ireland and Japan.
