A post-mortem is due to take place on the body of a man discovered in a house on the Cork Road in Waterford on Tuesday (May 2nd).
The man, aged in his mid-sixties, was discovered by emergency services shortly before lunchtime when they forced entry to his house.
A phone call had been received from a friend of the deceased in England asking for him to be checked on as he hadn't heard from him since the end of March.
Gardaí say the results of the post-mortem will determine the course of their investigation and a file is being prepared for the coroner.
An inquest will take place at a later date, however, WLR News understands the man's death is not thought to be suspicious.
