The Chairperson of Park Rangers AFC says their Female Focus campaign has had a huge impact on their club and can help more females to stay involved in sport.
Over 34% of the Waterford clubs membership is females, which is above the national average of around 14%.
The club won a national award at the National Lottery Good Causes Awards at the weekend.
Club Chaairperson, Avril Bowe, told WLR about the clubs hopes after they won the sports award.
Avril says she wants the campaign to go nationwide as she believes the programme could be hugely impactful for other sports.
"We're really, really proud to be part of something that's actually quite simple but it's about listening and being able to adapt accordingly," she said.
Park Rangers are the only team in Waterford with girls playing at every age level.
Avril says the campaign hopes to keep girls playing and enjoying soccer, while also ensuring the girls know they play an important part in the club.
