A paraglider was seriously injured in the Knockmealdown Mountains on the Waterford / Tipperary border yesterday.

Emergency Services received the call just before a 4.45 in the evening.

The South Eastern Mountain Rescue Association made their way to the lake of Béal Locha near the Vee.

An off-duty doctor provided initial essential medical treatment as Rescue 117 and paramedics also arrived on the scene.

According to SEMRA, the injured person was then packaged onto a stretcher and air-lifted to hospital.

This was one of three incidents the Mountain Rescue Association attended yesterday.

Both the other two call-outs were for lost walkers.

One was in the Galtee Mountains and the other was in the Coumshingaun Loop, near Kilclooney Woods in the Comeraghs.
