Councillors have paved the way for the start of an ambitious development at 120 Parade Quay in the city.

The Part 8 planning process was approved at the monthly Metropolitan District meeting.

The meeting heard that builders could be on site within a couple of months and it could be home to a working restaurant by June.

Executive Architect Matthew Partridge outlined the details.

"The development will provide a fully functioning and contemporary licensed restaraunt to accomodate up to 50 persons," he said.

He added that there is potential for outdoor dining on Greyfriars Stret.

The former tourism office is three-storeys high and council owned.

The upper floors are currently occupied.
