A local Councillor has said it is a 'pity' to see old buildings 'lying idle' in the Comeragh district area.
Fine Gael Cllr Liam Brazil spoke during this month's Comeragh district meeting of Waterford City and County Council.
The Kilmacthomas based representative listed Garda stations in Leamybrien, Kill and Rathgormack which he believes should be repurposed.
"I'm trying to get the council to see could they take this off the OPW and bring it back into use," he said.
The local Councillor raised the matter in March 2024 and is now asking for Waterford Council to take ownership of the buildings.
Speaking on the building in Leamybrien, Cllr Brazil says it has to been left to its own devices for far too long.
"There's a lovely two-storey building there in Leamybrien. The OPW completed repairs I'd say about three years ago, but walked away and turned the key and locked the door."
