An Garda Siochana have not upgraded their investigation into the 30 year disappearance of Imelda Keenan in Waterford.

Her family met with Gardaí at Waterford Garda Station today and had been hopeful the missing person's case would be upgraded to a murder inquiry.

However, speaking afterwards to WLR News, her brother Gerry said they were disappointed.

"Unfortunately the Keenan family didn't get what we came here for today. We were hoping it would be pushed over the line, " he said.

"We thought today would be our day. We are very disappointed because we had ourselves built up, but we were told there is a review team organised and the case is still active. Hopefully something will come from that."

He added: "We're never going to give up. We are positive Imelda was murdered and we, the Keenan family, are working shoulder to shoulder and that keeps me going."

Imelda Keenan's last reported sighting was on Lombard Street in Waterford City on January 3rd 1994.

Her family have campaigned ever since for information on her disappearance - including this year with a renewed appeal for information on the 30th anniversary of her disappearance.
