N25 Waterford bypass toll to increase in New Year

Tolls on ten routes around the country, including the N25 Waterford City bypass, are set to increase in the New Year.

From January 1st, most car tolls are increasing by 20 cent per journey and tolls for heavy goods vehicles by 30 to 50 cent per journey.

In addition to the N25 Waterford toll, there will be increases on the M1, M7, M8, N6, and N18 Limerick Tunnel where the charge for cars is going up 20c to €2.30.

On the M3, the toll is increasing by 10c to €1.70, and on the M4 there is a 20c increase for cars to €3.40.

Tolls for the Dublin Tunnel are to increase by €2 for cars at peak times, with Transport Infrastructure Ireland saying the move is aimed at preserving "capacity for heavy goods vehicles accessing Dublin Port".

On the M50, toll prices are increasing by between 20-40 cent, depending on vehicle type and whether drivers use toll tags, video accounts or are unregistered.

Increased tolls on routes around the country will "force hauliers to avoid the tolls as much as possible", according to the head of the Irish Road Haulage Association.
