The number of people using Waterford City's bus services increased exponentially last year.
That's according to Bus Éireann's Service Delivery Manager, who has been speaking as a new 'Travel Around Waterford' brochure has been launched today.
It's aimed at passengers looking for a convenient, hard-copy with details of all the TFI Local Link and Bus Éireann routes around the county.
Waterford City's service launched just before Christmas 2018.
And speaking to WLR News, Mick Faherty says passenger numbers are now quite impressive.
"In Q3 2022, we carried 263,000 passengers. The average for the whole of 2022 was 1.14 million passengers which is a significant volume of people to be carrying around the city and it's a testament to our drivers who drive the buses every day, seven days a week."
James O'Donoghue of TFI Local Link Ireland believes the new brochure will be instrumental in showcasing the route options to commuters planning a trip.
“TFI Local Link Waterford provide regular rural bus services, door-to-door all over towns and villages throughout County Waterford. ’We are delighted to participate in the new Travel Around Waterford brochure, encouraging passengers to make the most of our public transport
system and to benefit from the recent reduction in fares on PSO bus services in Waterford.”
The brochure is available from Waterford bus station, TFI Local Link and tourist offices. It will provide information about Bus Éireann and TFI Local Link services connecting Waterford’s towns and villages.
In addition, the brochure also highlights how passengers and visitors can benefit from the 20% fare reduction on PSO bus services in Waterford.
There is also a 50% reduction available for those with a TFI Student or Young Adult Leap Card.
