A recent vocations weekend at the seminary in Maynooth was oversubscribed.
That's according to the Bishop of Waterford and Lismore Alphonsus Cullinan who told a Catholic Chaplaincy event at Queens University that almost forty men from across Ireland attended the recent 'Come and See' event.
The event was aimed at helping the men to discern if God is calling them to the priesthood.
The Mail reports that Bishop Cullinan told the gathering at Queen's University that the men of Ireland are responding to the call to the priesthood, despite the 'naysayers'.
Bishop Alphonsus Cullinan is chair of the Bishops’ Council for Vocations and is leading the 2023 - 2024 Year for Vocation to the Diocesan Priesthood, on the theme: ‘Take the Risk for Christ’ (‘You have not chosen me, but I have chosen you’ John 15:16 ).
