Members of the public were involved in the rescue of a swimmer at a Waterford beach this morning.

At about 8.35am Bonmahon Coast Guard say they were tasked to a swimmer in difficulty in Bonmahon Bay.

The first of their units arrived on the scene as the casualty was being helped from the water by members of the public, who used the lifebuoy to pull them to safety.

Rescue 117 also arrived a few minutes later and the person was treated by their onboard paramedic.
