Dunmore East Coast Guard and Dunmore East Lifeboat were tasked just before 6am this morning to a mayday call for immediate assistance from a fishing vessel off Dunmore East.
The vessel had made contact with rocks and was reported to have been taking on water.
The casualty vessel was able to make it back to the harbour where it was met with coast guard personnel. No injuries were reported.
A Coast Guard spokesperson said the owner of the vessel made exactly the right decision by insisting a mayday call as soon as he realised the potential danger he was in.
The Marine Rescue Centre had time to task the relevant services and equipment was on hand upon arrival of the vessel.
The Rescue Centre expressed their thanks to the RNLI for their speedy launch and assistance on this operation.
