Staff at a Waterford car dealership were threatened with a baseball bat during a robbery yesterday.
A man in his late thirties went into the business at about 4.40pm.
He threatened those working there, demanding that keys to a new car be handed over to him.
He managed to escape in the car, but Gardaí had been alerted and he was arrested just moments later in the vicinity of John's Park on the outskirts of the city.
Having been held overnight for questioning, the man was charged and appeared before the court this morning where he was remanded in custody to appear again later this month.
Gardaí say no-one was injured in the incident and the vehicle was undamaged.
