Renowned entertainer and Waterford magician Keith Barry has called on Gardai to take a look at new evidence surrounding the death of his grandfather.
82-year-old Paddy Barry was in his home at Mount Sion Avenue in Waterford in 2009 watching television, when several burglars forced entry into his home and assaulted him.
He died several days later from the injuries inflicted upon him. He had lived in the area for 60 years.
Speaking on Deise Today with Damien Tiernan, Keith has expressed his disappointment with how inquiries have been handled.
"My grandfather was killed in a botched robbery in Waterford in Mount Sion Avenue a number of years ago. Nobody was ever caught. It should be an open murder enquiry, in my opinion."
"We haven't heard from the Gardai in I don't know how many years", revealed Keith. "As a matter of fact, I reported something to the Gardai this year where I got brand new information and they have not spoken to me since March despite the new information. They should be investigating this openly."
