Sinn Fein have co-opted a new councillor on to Waterford City and County Council in place of Conor McGuinness.
McGuinness, who represented the Dungarvan and Lismore District for five years, was recently elected to the Dail.
Kate O'Mahoney has been chosen by the party to take McGuinness' seat.
She will be formally co-opted to the local authority at a meeting on Monday.
At 23-years-old, Kate O'Mahoney will be one of the youngest councillors in Ireland. She says it is a huge honour to be selected.
"It has been an absolute honour to be selected by Sinn Féin membership locally to take on the role as Waterford City and County Councillor for Dungarvan LEA following the election of our comrade, Conor McGuinness TD. I am thrilled to be co-opted onto the Council next week, as Dungarvan LEA’s Sinn Féin Representative. I promise to do be a voice for all in our community. My priorities include housing, local amenities and mental health. I will work from day 1 for the people of Dungarvan and surrounding areas."
