At 23-years-old, Kate O'Mahoney will be one of the youngest councillors in Ireland. She says it is a huge honour to be selected.

"It has been an absolute honour to be selected by Sinn Féin membership locally to take on the role as Waterford City and County Councillor for Dungarvan LEA following the election of our comrade, Conor McGuinness TD. I am thrilled to be co-opted onto the Council next week, as Dungarvan LEA’s Sinn Féin Representative. I promise to do be a voice for all in our community. My priorities include housing, local amenities and mental health. I will work from day 1 for the people of Dungarvan and surrounding areas."

"I believe that we are in one of the best positions that we as a party have ever been in. Sinn Féin has 1 MEP, 2 TDs, and 7 Councillors working for Waterford and it is a privilege to be joining the team. I will work from day 1 to ensure that Dungarvan LEA and Waterford in general, remains a Sinn Féin stronghold. I am really excited for what is to come and I can assure you, the people, that I won’t leave you down."
Conor McGuinness TD added: "Kate will be co-opted onto the council next week and once in the role, she and I will work together to ensure the strongest local and national representation for the Dungarvan area. I know she will hit the ground running and play a full and important part in our team of 7 councillors, 2 TDs and 1 MEP."
