23-year-old Joey Joseph Moroney died in a hit-and-run in the townland of Bohadoon, Dungarvan, County Waterford 41 years ago.
At a quarter past one on Sunday morning, August the 8th 1982, Joey's body was found lying on the roadside - just several hundred meters from the pub where he had spent the evening socializing with his best friend Mike.
After closing time, Joey had left the pub to walk home on his own but was hit by a car.
The driver of that car, or occupants if there were others in it, never came forward.
Family members say the Garda investigation at the time left a lot of unanswered questions.
They went on RTE's CrimeCall last year and issued a fresh appeal, and his sister Kathleen Troy wrote to the Garda Commissioner, Drew Harris.
An internal Garda investigation was carried out over the last six months and that report was completed just before Christmas.
The family are unhappy because they are not able to see the report.
Gardai have said that they would meet family members but that the report is an internal Garda report and would not be available to family members.
Joey's sister Kathleen has now written to the Minister for Justice, Helen McEntee to see what she can do as Kathleen is very frustrated by the entire process.
"It never goes away. it's like it happened yesterday. When it's your own family it's every day."
