A HSE National Ambulance Service helicopter will service Waterford and the South-East.
It has replaced a charity funded helicopter which was based in Rathcool , Co. Cork.
The new helicopter, which was pictured on site at University Hospital Waterford yesterday (Friday), is staffed with a National Ambulance Service advanced paramedic and two pilots.
It will be used for calls across the South/South-East depending on factors including flight times to incidents.

Potential call-outs include road traffic collisions, cardiac calls and major trauma.
The patient will then be flown to the most appropriate hospital.
