Horizon Therapeutics is to create over 50 jobs in Waterford over the next 18 months.
The company, which develops and commercialises medicines for rare, autoimmune and inflammatory diseases, last year acquired a manufacturing facility at The IDA Business Park in Waterford.
Horizon, which has been headquartered in Dublin since 2014, this week opened a new HQ on St Stephen's Green in the Capital, with the announcement that it would hire a further 100 people in Ireland.
The company currently employs around 200 people nationally, in finance, legal, technical operations, and R&D.
Horizon in Waterford
In 2021, Horizon purchased a 44,000 square foot manufacturing facility in Waterford to support the growth of its on-market rare disease medicines and pipeline biologics.
The company plans to add more than 50 high-end specialist roles in science and engineering in that facility by year end.
An Taoiseach, Mr. Micheál Martin said,
I am delighted to join Horizon to mark the opening of their new global corporate headquarters in Dublin. I also welcome the company’s commitment to creating an additional 100 new jobs in Dublin and Waterford. The company’s decision to add a manufacturing facility in Waterford last year further underlines the leading role Ireland plays in the company’s operations.
Community involvement
During the last two years, Horizon has provided approximately €1 million in community support, including over €120,000 in scholarships for students at SETU (formerly WIT) and Trinity College Dublin.
