Honorary doctorates are set to be awarded at SETU today as part of this week's conferring ceremonies.

Two Waterford individuals are to receive the honour following a rigorous process of nomination.

This year’s conferring ceremonies at SETU feature the inaugural awarding of honorary doctorates.

Earlier this week former politician Dr Maurice Manning was awarded an honourary doctorate at SETU's Carlow campus.

Today, Waterford actress and broadcaster Carrie Crowley and pioneering biomedical engineer, Professor Annraoi de Paor will be bestowed with the honour at the Waterford campus.

Meanwhile, in January - acclaimed writer Claire Keegan and Irish academic, career diplomat, and former Irish ambassador to the USA, Dan Mulhall will also receive an honorary doctorate from SETU.

SETU President, Professor Veronica Campbell has described the conferring of an honorary degree as the most prestigious accolade that a university can bestow on a person.
