Government still committed to Waterford Airport says Minister

The Government's commitment to Waterford Airport still stands.

That's according to Minister of State at the Department of Transport Hildegard Naughton.

Minister Naughton was in Waterford this week to officially re-open the Ardmore Irish Coast Guard station following extensive refurbishment.

She told WLR News she was in contact with Waterford Airport over the last couple of months and that management at the airport are due to bring a proposal to her department shortly.

"There are certain criteria that needs to be met and Waterford Airport are very aware of that, so there's a proposal coming, I understand, in the very near future," Minister Naughton said.

She said that since the pandemic, how businesses in the tourism and aviation sector need to be reassessed.
