The ‘end of an era’ is how the closure of a popular Dungarvan Italian takeaway is being described.
Genoa’s has been in operation in Grattan Square for many years, but will close the doors in 2025 to pave the way for ‘Mama Genoa’ and family’s well-earned retirement.
Run by the Divetta family, Genoas has established a reputation as one of the most popular takeaways in the country - the news being met with sadness on social media.
The Divetta family said: “Sad to say our time has come, we have enjoyed the 35 years here in this wonderful town a place we call home. For now, we are still operating as usual and will keep you all posted on any updates. Thank you for all the kind words - I'm sure there has been a few saucy ones said too from time to time especially of a Saturday night, but hey - it's all banter. Hope to see you all over the Christmas period.”
A listing on REA Spratt reads:
“REA Spratt offer for sale as a going concern this family run residential takeaway premises boasting a prime highly visible location in the heart of Dungarvan's vibrant Town Centre. After many successful years trading, Genoa’s has earned its status as a local institution, however, the current owners, the Di Vetta family are now retiring from the business marking the end of an era.”
