Gardaí investigating theft of boat engines in Villierstown

Gardaí are investigating the theft of four outboard boat engines belonging to Blackwater Eco Tours in West Waterford.

It has been described as a significant loss for the group, which is a community run social enterprise.

The incident occurred last week between 9pm on Tuesday February 14th and 9am on Thursday February 16th from a locked yard at Villierstown Quay.

The four engines are worth a combined total in excess of €20,000.

Gardaí estimate it would have taken approximately 40 minutes to remove each engine.

A spokesperson for Blackwater Eco Tours said: "This will have a knock on effect on our seasonal business going forward as it will curtail our water based activities in the coming months. So to all clubs and boat owners out there, please be vigilant, be alert and report any suspicious activity."

Honda F30 EFI (30 horse power) serial number unknown Grey

2nd Honda F30 EFI (30 horse power) serial number unknown Grey
