A Waterford consultant believes patients would be travelling from as far as Carlow if there was a 24 hour interventional cardiology service in Waterford.
Dr Niall Herity, whose report turned down demands for a second cath lab at UHW, made his decision based on a population of 286 thousand.
However Dr Brian Creedon says those figures were for patients undergoing elective procedures not emergency cases.
Speaking in a personal capacity, Dr Creedon explains who would benefit from the 24 hour service.
