Funding announced for 25 women's groups and projects in Waterford

Funding has been announced for almost 500 women's sporting and community groups nationwide.

A total of 25 groups and projects in Waterford are set to receive funding.

Minister for Rural and Community Development Heather Humphreys has announced funding as part of the Local Enhancement Programme 2024.

This programme allocates €6 million in capital supports for community groups and organisations around Ireland, with funding of €1 million being ring-fenced for women’s groups and projects.

Among the recipients of the largest allocations in Waterford is Ballysaggart Ladies Football Club which receives just over €4,000.

A total of €2,000 is  being given to Ballinroad FC and both Erin's Own Ladies GAA Club and St Oliver's Ladies GAA.

In addition to sporting groups, Women's Sheds and Women's Groups across the city and county are to receive funding including Waterford New Community Women's Shed and Deise Women's Group.

There's also funding for girl guides and Dungarvan and West Waterford Surprise Surprise Group.
