The ESB is looking for people in Waterford to apply for its apprenticeship programme.

All applicants must be aged 16 and can apply using their Junior Certificate or Leaving Certificate certification.

The four-year paid programme combines college-based learning and hands-on experience within the ESB.

Apprentices obtain a QQI Advanced Level 6 Electrical Trade Certificate, which is recognised internationally and a total of 96 electrical apprentices are being hired across the country.

Apprenticeship supervisor for the South East, Caroline Kinsella says it's a great opportunity:

"The fact we are taking on such a high number it is great for the apprentices to have such a large number of peers.

"Part of the programme is distanced learning sometimes with our own training and then they go to college as well where they get paid throughout," she said.

Applicants must be made by this Monday, March 28th before 12 noon, and people can apply here.
