Emergency services mounted a multi-agency operation last night to rescue a man who had entered the River Suir at Rice Bridge in Waterford.
The response at approximately 10.40pm involved crews from Waterford City Fire Service, Waterford City River Rescue, An Garda Síochána and the National Ambulance Service.
Boat crews carried out an extensive search successfully locating the casualty in the Bilberry area.
The man was successfully rescued from the water by crews from Waterford City River Rescue onboard the Lenny O’ and was transferred to University Hospital Waterford for treatment.
