Emergency services free woman from overturned vehicle in Waterford

Emergency services have been attending the scene of a one vehicle incident in a Waterford housing estate this lunchtime.

It happened at approximately 12.30pm in The Paddocks, off the Williamstown Road, where a small van overturned.

A woman, who was the driver and sole occupant of the vehicle, was seen by passers-by as she was being cut from it by members of the fire service.

Four units of Waterford Fire Service, an ambulance and a number of Gardaí responded to the incident.

It's unclear what caused the vehicle to veer off the road.

The road was closed off for a while as the woman was being rescued but it's understood to be passable now (1.30pm).

Gardaí say the woman did not receive any serious injuries.
