Efforts are ramping up for a new theatre space in Tramore as funding is granted
Almost €50,000 in funding under the Town and Village Renewal Scheme has been granted for a full assessment of potential sites.
This follows a public meeting on the need for a theatre space in the town, which took place earlier this year.
Tramore man, Garrett Wyse who has been working with James Power, director of Stagemad Theatre Company on this campaign, says the centre 'will be a place for everyone.'
No building works will take place at this stage, but the study will look at suitable properties and locations for the potential centre.

Tramore upgrades
Speaking at a special sitting of the Council earlier this week, CEO of Waterford City & County council, Michael Walsh says it is his personal view that 'there is more to be done in the town centre' of Tramore.
As well as citing the need for upgrades in the Market Street and Queen Street areas of Tramore, he says the Council should harbour the ambition that the region around the boating lake and the former railway station in Tramore would receive a 'significant upgrade.'
Speaking at the meeting, he said the aim should be to 'ultimately tidy up the railway station and get it back into positive use.'
