A contractor has now been appointed to extend the Waterford Greenway from Bilberry to the City Centre.
The contract, worth more than €6.84 million, has been awarded to Kildare-based John Cradock Limited.
At a council meeting this afternoon, councilors were told that site works on the project are expected to start this month and continue for 18 months.
Meanwhile, two tender applications are currently being considered for the stretch of the Waterford Greenway that would link Tramore.
Contractors interested had until the 20th of August to make a submission.
It's expected that one of the two under consideration will be chosen shortly.
