Members of the Dunhill Tidy Village Committee have contacted several parties ahead of the general election, asking candidates not to erect political posters.
No posters were 'allowed' in the county Waterford village for the local and European elections, with political representatives contacted by locals.
Donal Murphy is a member of the Tidy Village Committee and spoke to WLR News in Dunhill yesterday.
"We kept the village poster free and to date, we issued an email to all the political parties that we could contact. Fianna Fáil, Fianna Gael, Sinn Féin, I'm not sure about Labour and the Social Democrats.
"We do accept that there will be several independent candidates also running, but we do not have a full list of those yet.
" I do know that Mary Butler, John Cummins, Marc O'Cathasaigh, and Matt Shanahan have agreed.
"Independents are not notified as of yet".
When asked if the decision by locals is moving away from a Tidy Village perspective and becoming more political, Donal said "It's not political" but more of a collective decision by locals.
He continued, "We're asking the politicians, candidates, parties, and Independents not to erect posters on the three roads approaching Dunhill inside the 30-kilometer zone and on the Anne Valley Road.
