Dungarvan has the rainbow flags flying high today as the town's first ever Pride Festival takes place.
The free event gets underway at 4pm in Walton Park, Abbeyside and runs until 9pm.
This year’s Pride Festival was approved funding by Waterford City & County Council and organisers have been working hard behind the scene for the showpiece event.
Emilene Stafford Pride committee member gave WLR a taste of what's on offer today
"It's kicking off at 4pm with Lady FiFi, local drag queen. And then at 4.15pm we have the Kirby School of Performing Arts.
"At 4.45pm we have the Wobbly Circus and at 5 o'clock we have a local band.
"We have a lip-synching battle at 6 o'clock and at 6.30 we have another band from Waterford, called Changing Channels.
"And then at 8pm it will finish off with the Dream Girls Drag Show, which will bring it to the end."
Continuing, Emilene says they want to stress that this festival is not just for those within the LGBTQ+ community. It's for everyone:
"That's the thing. It is all about inclusivity. It is all about the people of Dungarvan, Waterford, wherever, coming on Saturday, supporting the LGBTQ+ community of course, but also just coming to celebrate love and life in the park.
"You don't have to be gay to celebrate Pride."
Ciara McCluskey Pride committee member told WLR businesses in the town have really rowed in behind them:
"The businesses really have stepped up and been really positive back to us. We've sent out hundreds of emails. It's been a lot of slog but they've been great.
"Everyone has been really positive. All the feedback we've been getting has been really positive.
"Yes, it's brilliant and Dungarvan has really stepped up and shown what a great town it is."
