Dungarvan student wins Food Safety Authority of Ireland award

Waterford came away with an accolade at this year's BT Young Scientist & Technology Exhibition.

The Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI) award was presented by CEO Dr Pamela Byrne to James Hickey, Dungarvan CBS for his project 'Spoiler Alert: pH Responsive Packaging for Food Preservation'.

Waterford schools were also represented at the event by Cathal Barry from Blackwater Community School, Lismore with his project 'Where is the Truth: The effects of media propaganda on young people'.

Three sisters from Tralee, Co Kerry were named the overall winners at the 61st BT Young Scientist and Technology Exhibition.

Ciara, Saoirse and Laoise Murphy won for their project called 'Aid Care Treat', a medical assistance app designed to support emergency healthcare response.
