The Dáil has been adjourned until tomorrow at 9:00 am, following a day of disagreements when it came to speaking time in the chamber.
Parties were strongly resisting attempts by the Regional Independents to have opposition speaking time despite being supporters of the Government.
It's delayed the business of electing a Taoiseach and a Government, as well as the suspected announcement of Waterford TD Mary Butler's position in the next Government.
Opposition TDs threatened to walk out as Albert Dolan attempted to nominate Micheál Martin for Taoiseach.
RTÉ's Mícheál Lehane has said no TDs are leaving Leinster House yet.
He added"eyes are on the Regional Independent Group with many believing the group may dissolve itself. Mattie McGrath had been due to speak on behalf of the group in the Dáil.
"Attention is also now on Ceann Comhairle Verona Murphy with unprecedented scenes of chaos erupting in Dáil on numerous occasions now."
