Charity swims in Waterford this Christmas - all you need to know

Hardy souls across Waterford will once again enter the water as part of the much loved Christmas swims which take place locally each year - helping to raise funds for various causes.

Here's all the info you need for the 2024 swims:

Tramore

The Christmas Day Swim on Tramore Strand takes place at 11am with collections in aid of the WLR St Vincent de Paul appeal.

The Christmas Swim For Kinto is in aid of Waterford Marine Search & Rescue. Meeting at Tramore Skate Park at 9.45am, with the swim beginning on Tramore Strand at 10am.

The Billy Galgey Memorial Swim takes place at 11.15am with proceeds to Waterford Helping Hand.

The Tramore Rangers FC Eddie Dunphy Memorial Swim takes place on St. Stephen's Day at the Main Slip at 12pm  in aid of Tramore Community Care Meals on Wheels.

Newtown and Guillamene

The Christmas Day Swim at Newtown and Guillamene is in aid of the Order of Malta, Tramore with swims being undertaken between 8am and 12pm on Christmas Day.

Kilmurrin

The Michael Power Memorial Swim is in aid of Boatstrand Sea Safety Centre this year and takes place at Kilmurrin Cove at 12pm.

Clonea

The Dungarvan Lions Club Christmas Day Swim takes place on Clonea Strand at 12pm.

Stradbally

The Christmas Day Swim at Stradbally Cove is in aid of Baby Cass Dravet Journey and takes place at 12pm.

Ardmore

The Christmas Day Swim on Ardmore Beach gets underway at 12.15pm with all funds raised in aid of the Youghal RNLI.

Dunmore East 

Dunmore East's Christmas Day Swim this year it is in memory of Der McEnery who was one of the main organisers of the swim for many years and is in aid of the Oesophageal Cancer Fund and the Gailltír Camogie Club. It takes place at 12 noon at the Strand.

The Thomas Brown Christmas Day Swim takes place next to the Strand at the slipway at 2pm. All funds raised will go to Waterford City River Rescue

Ballymacaw

Waterford Helping the Homeless will benefit from the St Stephen's Day swim taking place at Ballymacaw Cove at 12pm.
