South Eastern Health Activists and Politicians will take the campaign for 24/7 emergency cardiac care for University Hospital Waterford to the gates of Leinster House later today (around 1pm.)

An Oireachtas meeting co- hosted by Sinn Feins David Cullinane and Fianna Fails Mary Butler will hear from Waterford Consultants and campaigners, as well as family members of Thomas Power, who died of a heart attack while on the way to receive treatment in Cork.

Health Minister Simon Harris has said a further review of facilities at UHW will only take place once a mobile lab has been deployed and has run its course.

The provision of additional service is also based on achieving concensus among South Eastern consultants.

The Medical Director of St. Lukes Hospital in Kilkenny says they are very happy with the cardiac service arrangement they have with St. James in Dublin.
