The FAI has a responsibility to publish the Markets Field safety report in full.

That's the view of Waterford Sinn Féin TD, David Cullinane.

Following an investigation into an evacuation of the stand during the First Division playoff in November, the FAI blamed 'accidental excessive force' earlier this month.

Speaking on Déise Today, Deputy Cullinane called for the publication of the full report.

A letter was issued to the FAI yesterday essentially saying that the report should be published.

He added: " It is in the public interest and we owe it to the families that were at the game and any future fans that will be at the stadium in the future and I think if the FAI conducts an investigation that they have a responsibility to publish the report in full."

'Accidental excessive force' has been cited as the reason for damage to the stand on November 4 by the FAI. A section of Waterford supporters had to vacate the stand at the Limerick venue during a first-division play-off final and, as a result, the game was halted for the first 5 mins because of concerns over structural issues at the game in early November.

Cullinane Added: " Gaged with representatives from the supporters club and the club itself and I feel it would be best to engage with them directly via a senior party member. In any event, I have written to the FAi for the report to be published and I believe it would be in the best interest for the report to be published as soon as possible."
