Following on from the shock announcement last week that pop star Ed Sheeran is to play two intimate gigs in Dublin (in Vicars street and Whelans), it has been confirmed that the megastar will play one intimate night here in Waterford later this month.
Sheeran will take to the stage at Vicar street and Whelans on the 19th & 20th April ahead of his stadium tour (kicking off in Croke Park on April 23rd) and now it has been confirmed that he will travel to the Deise on Thursday 21st April.... however the venue has not yet been confirmed.
There is an event at The Theatre Royal that night however there is strong speculation that Sheeran may play upstairs in Phil Grimes pub, which is well known for smaller and more intimate music events.
WLRfm contacted the owner of Phil Grimes pub, Tom Ryan, who all but confirmed the breaking news. "I am sworn to secrecy on this issue however I will say that we are expecting to be busier than usual on that Thursday night, so get down early ."
Tickets will go on sale at 12 noon today, however ticket buyers will not be informed of the venue until a few hours before the performance.
