Bespoke wedding venue developed at historic Waterford estate

The historic Gardenmorris Estate in Kill, County Waterford is entering a new chapter.

A bespoke wedding venue has been developed on site - and is the focus of a showcase event taking place on the estate this weekend.

Speaking to WLR News at Gardenmorris, Cathal Queally outlined his vision for his new venture.

"The feedback has been phenomenal and it has created great excitement," he told WLR News.

Cathal explained that a feasibility study he carried out shows that many Waterford couples use venues outside of the city and county.

"I'm hoping they won't and that they will consider this venue, particularly those who live within 20 miles of the area," he said.

Cathal, whose family own the estate, told WLR News that the Millennium Hall on site has already played host to a wide variety of community events, including as part of fundraisers for Waterford Hospice and Kill GAA.

"We invite any local community groups to use the venue if the date is available  - that has always been our mantra," said Cathal.

"We want to support local organisations and help them in their fundraising efforts."

He hopes the development of the venue will have economic benefits for the local area.

"All of the suppliers we have will be from within a 15 mile radius. What is available in Waterford is excellent and I hope we can bring it all together under one roof and have something really special."

The wedding fair at Gardenmorris takes place on Sunday January 14th from 2 - 5pm.
