Planning permission has officially been granted for the development of 39 homes in the Duffcarrick area of Ardmore.
The decision comes amid a huge demand from locals for social and affordable housing in the village.
Following a vote from councillors to materially contravene a segment of the County Development Plan - developer Michael Ryan has been granted conditional permission to construct 39 homes, having initially sought permission to build 51.
The permitted development consists of 16 semi-detached two-storey 3-bed homes; 7 semi-detached / terraced two-storey 2-bed homes; 2 detached two-bed bungalows; 6 semi-detached two-storey two-beds with home offices; 6 detached two-storey 4-bed homes and 2 detached two-storey 3-bed homes.
The decision was formally approved by Waterford City and County Council on October 11th.
