Appeal lodged against proposed 79-home development in Waterford

An appeal has been lodged with An Bord Pleanála in relation to plans for a 79-unit residential project in Waterford.

Marina Quarter Limited applied to Waterford City and County Council on August 4th this year for permission to proceed with Phase 4A of a residential development consisting of seventy-nine units, a creche, and one ESB Substation, at The Paddocks, Williamstown Road, Grantstown.

The proposed development forms part of a master plan that will provide for three hundred and five units and one creche and seeks to modify parts of a previously permitted Phase 1 and Phase 2, and supersede Phase three.

The plans were given the green light by the Council in September, subject to twenty-six conditions.

Objections to Waterford Council’s decision were lodged with An Bord Pleanála on October 18th.

They include concerns from local residents in relation to privacy and the overall scale of the proposed design and its potential impact on surrounding developments.

The case is due to be decided by An Bord Pleanála on February 29, 2024.
