AIB has announced it will no longer remove cash services from 70 of its branches.

The decision was made due to the customer and public unease the announcement caused, the bank said in a statement.

A number of AIB branches serving Waterford people were set to become cashless outlets from October 21st - with the bank citing a fall in demand for services.

Tramore, Lismore, Ardkeen and Carrick-on-Suir's branches were among the 70 nationwide that had been earmarked for this change.

The branches were to instead focus more on mortgage, loan and saving advice for customers.

AIB will now retain its 170-strong branch network in its entirety.
