The President of Waterford Institute of Technology says he is at a loss as to why anyone would fear the College Street library would be closed.
Students are today protesting outside the College Street Campus because they say the want to save the library.
Willie Donnelly says he has informed staff and students that a review of the libraries throughout the Institute is underway.
He says they are not closing it but enhancing the service.
Professor Donnelly says they want to look at what kind of service they are delivering to students in this Internet age. "What I would hope is that our students would use the physical libraries that are available, but also that we would provide other services particularly online support services, access to online books and online e learning environment," he added.
